Electrolux..Front Load Washer...

or so it is called.
but simply I'd rather call it a washing machine. period. without any additional (pre-) remarks ..:0
my wife and I took a chance to peep into an array of electrolux kitchen stuffs and washing machine..
and she set her mind on one particular thing she's been inclining to buy...
and a washing machine.
well...it kinda costs a lot of money..
but...I wanna help her ease her burden of having to wash all the clothes every week.
the piles of cloth we dump every day need our utmost attention..or lest she'd have no time doing her private home industry...
so...we decided to buy one washing machine.
and...
we are going to...
this week.

the Book Shelf just arrived

Now..I have a quite big display of books I've been collecting..for the past few years.
the 2 m X 2 m high book shelf I ordered just arrived in time when I needed this kind of shelf myself.
it really help me a lot in designing my new working room..right at home.

I just needed to rearrange the books, DVDs and CDs I have ..and stack them up onto this new shelf.

dark-brown colored box..I call it.

Toshiba 43" Theather Cool

WEll...something new captured my imagination (or my money) again:)
this new theathrical cool stuff displayed at JEC this week captured my attention.
my long-awaited stuff finally is within my reach. it costs about 9.2 million rupiahs.
well...kinda lots of money.
but hey...if I wanna have some fun with the blastering sound of music and movies right inside my home...I just got what I need.

well...the thing is...I haven't decided if I got to buy this stuff or others...yet.

well..the thought of having this big screen television really..really intrigued me.
well..let's see what's gonna come up....

Saturday ...

First thing in the morning that I did...was tucking myself back to bed:)
well..I was supposed to get up early to prepare stuffs I got to bring and suits I got to wear on this Saturday's occasion. One professor at campus was delivering her speech as she was appointed as Guru Besar on campus. She got to know me well enough that I was also invited to the ceremony.
Lots of new things to learn from her speech about Cultural Artefacts and stuffs like those. Local Genius. Intangible and tangible cultural heritage.

By lunch time...
we gathered at our campus plaza to have a banquet of food....
met some other lecturers.
met some friends.
some students.

food's good.

Tanjung Tabalong 2

..it took me about 16 hours to get to Tabalong from Jogjakarta. well...we left Jogja at about 8.25 heading for Surabaya for a 4-hour long transit in a small and damped Juanda airport. The truth is that....Juanda is bigger...than Adisucipto Airport in Jogja. The reason I got this cramped feeling over the trip was simply the lack of entertainment and things to do in the airport while waiting for that long. nothing to do. just sitting and doing nothing.
It was lucky that I managed to buy a local newspaper just to kill time.
It didn't work.
It helped a little.
Even I got to scrutinize every bit of small-ads on the paper just to make myself amused.
gosh...
but then...the time for boarding a plane heading to Banjarmasin came.

for about 45 minutes the planed landed at Syamsuddin Noor Airport in Banjar Baru (NOT Banjarmasin as I had thought before).
so...instead of going downtown..we were going further away away from the city.

I thought the trip to Tabalong would take about 4 hours or so. To my surprise..it took me almost 9 hours just to get through a 247 km long distance.
Not to mention the conditions of the rugged roads and the traffic jam that unfortunately seemed like to welcome me on board:)
hehe

well..I can smile now.
BUT I can assure you..that I didnot even pun a smile even a grin on my face. I was crooked and shagged.
nothing to do.
bored and stucked in a car.

that was what I felt during almost an hour of traffic jam right in the middle of nowhere...
it was a good thing that I am a kind of person who could do the impossible in enjoying small and trivial stuffs. :) true!

I tried so hard to find myself some amusing facts and scenes I spotted along the way to Tabalong irrespective of its being dard outside.

The car that took me all the way down to Tabalong had a few stops in between. we had some drinks. stretched our legs...and dinner.

I happened to be a vegetarian and I found it hard to adjust myself to the food. Meat Meat and Meat. or Fish Fish and Fish....grilled fish....baked fish..olala...

no worries.
for I could always soothe myself for something else...

at about 11 pm or so...we finally arrived in Tabalong.
a city full of surprises...
what are those?
well...I will blog them out in my next blogs...
hints: coal mining. big trucks. oil mining. kids. schools. water. air conditioners:). heat. food. shopping. mandau. and stuffs...

but one thing left me speechless....IT WAS indeed a marvellous experience..despite its shortcomings...

I did enjoy my trip to Tabalong.

a new spring bed

after waiting for about six months...(chuckles:) we finally made (by order) our own spring bed. It was a little bigger than the usual size. well..not so big; for it is only 160 X 200 cm long. the funny thing about this particular spring bed is that it has no 'sandaran' (gosh what is it in English" :-) anyway...we designed so...as to make it fit into our small room.

the fact that we really needed this spring bed for 'years' is our simple answer to our raving and rantings of not-so-comfy slumber every night. we slept on a tiny bed squeezed inside the room. every morning we woke up, we felt our bones got numb. ...restless night.

now we don't have to worry about that numbness anymore.
this newly designed bed hopefully will overcome our troubles of nightslumber...

the reason of designing the bed to our design simply lies on its inexpensive price compared to those branded names as American springbed or Airland..and stuffs like that.
our bed is simply called ' Edelweis' (is it a correct spelling for this particular flower's name? :- ) sigh...^-^

so....starting from last night...
we have a good night sleep...well...at least to our senses...^^

Tanjung Tabalong - South Kalimantan

it's been quite a while since the last time I jotted down my thoughts and ponderings...
it's not that I was sooo bussyyy. NOPE. I was just somewhat trapped in a swirling routines...so trapped that I forgot I got this blogger to help me ease the tensions within my mind...:) hmmm
so here I am again...
now I feel like I am talking to myself..for this blog seems to help me out in finding the way out....or so I assumed.

it was only a week...hmm let see..not not even more than a week..since I went back from my jungle-ride trip.:) I was back from South Borneo (present day Kalimantan).
it was actually one of my anticipated trips, for I had never been there before.

the thought of having a chance to go to this 'remote' place induced intriguing feelings and cheers. (the term 'remote' that I just used was improper, actually...for it turned out...South Kalimantan was not that remote after all.). I assumed too much and I proved myself to be partly wrong.

so...I was there for about 3 days.
hillarious three days..I can call it like that.

and why is that?
I will bare all the experiences I got...in my next blogs...
